Pine and Honey

May 28, 2009

I think the conditioner here smells like pine needles and honey. Not necessarily bad, but I think it’s strange.

Arriving at JAM 2009

May 27, 2009

This year’s JAM (Jenzabar Annual Meeting) is in Washington D.C. at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.  (JAM 2009 web page)

I flew in on Tuesday, but had a throbbing headache.  So, after arriving at the resort, I grabbed some food with Bryan and then crashed in my room.  I’m feeling much better, now.  I have about 3 hours before sessions start, and I’ve brought my DSLR, this time.  So, I’m going to explore the resort a bit and take some photos.

Two and Twenty

May 24, 2009

In two days, I’ll be flying to Washington, D.C., for a business trip. In twenty days, I’ll be flying to Lilongwi, Malawi, for a vacation.

I thought that was kinda cool.

Young Again

May 21, 2009

I just got my Personal Health Profile from a recent physical at Kaiser. My Health Age is “that of a healthy, low risk 18 year old man.”

(I’m really 27.) Go me.

Countdowns

May 20, 2009

I’m staring at a Windows Vista computer with two count downs on the desktop:

  • 24 Days until our Malawi Trip!
  • 59 Days until our Wedding!

Next Monday is Memorial Day.  I’m so ready for a day off work.  Things have been quite busy, lately.  In addition to keeping up with my regular work load, I’m trying to document as much as I can so that the office can better cover my responsibilities during my vacation in Malawi.

Next Tuesday, I fly out for a business trip.  I return Saturday evening.  I have a bonfire to attend that night, too.  It’s a reunion, of sorts.  The most amazing church youth group — who, I should add, may be mostly responsible for the current restrictions on bonfire sizes and materials — will be gathering for one last flame (haha, not really).  But, I’m still looking forward to hanging with my peeps, even if the bonfire itself is shamefully small.

After my business trip, I will have two weeks to complete any pressing tasks and complete my documentation effort before I leave for Malawi.

After returning from Malawi, I will have 5 days to recover from jet lag and to prepare for my wedding.

I’m watching the calendar.  And, I’m feeling the weight of “So much to do.  So little time.”

Malawi 2009

May 16, 2009

For those of you who haven’t heard, Crisha and I will be going to Malawi this summer.  We will be gone about a month, leaving Saturday, June 13th and returning Sunday, July 12th.

I got my four vacinations this past Monday after work.  It laid me out for two days.  So, Crisha tactfully decided to get her shots today, on a Friday.

Here’s some quick ‘n dirty details:

  • We will have an 8 hour lay over in Zurich, Switzerland, both ways.  I’m told we do not need a visa to leave the airport.  So, we hope to venture out a little and find an eatery of some sort.
  • We will have an over night lay over in Johannesburg, South Africa, on the way back.  We might check out their zoo.
  • We will go on a 4 day safari in Zambia, which I’m told is the 2nd best area in Africa for safaris.
  • We will be staying with Crisha’s friend, Lisa, who teaches at ABC Christian Academy.
  • We plan to hike Mt. Mulanje, Malawi’s tallest mountain.

More info to come, but I have to go.  Please, ask questions.  I’d love to keep the blog updated about this trip, but I’ve been lazy about it lately.  So, please engage me!
