When I say I am a Christian

October 31, 2006

by Maya Angelou

When I say … “I am a Christian”
I’m not shouting “I’m clean livin’.”
I’m whispering “I was lost,
Now I’m found and forgiven.”

When I say … “I am a Christian”
I don’t speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say … “I am a Christian”
I’m not trying to be strong.
I’m professing that I’m weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say … “I am a Christian”
I’m not bragging of success.
I’m admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say … “I am a Christian”
I’m not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say … “I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say … “I am a Christian”
I’m not holier than thou,
I’m just a simple sinner
Who received God’s good grace, somehow.

The Hair Removal Process

October 29, 2006

I finally made some thumbnails of the hair removal process first mentioned in “…gone tomorrow!“.

The Kitchen Sink

After 7 hours of work and 4 trips to Home Depot, I finally finished replacing the 3 valves under the kitchen sink.

I hate domestic plumbing.

Mark's hair and beard

Mark's hair and beard

I’ve included a couple thumbnails of my hair and beard. These photos were taken about an hour ago (11PM Saturday). I just cut my hair Thursday night and the beard is 16.5 days old. I will probably shave the beard Sunday after church.

And before everyone asks for larger pics. I started trying to fix my gallery, which has been broken for quite some time. I’ve made some progress, but I’m not sure when/if it’ll get fixed. (I’m really trying to not loose data/pictures.)

Keeping the home fires burning

October 27, 2006

Fireman with garden hoseWell, almost. Shortly after my last blog post, I walked out towards the kitchen and saw a bunch of smoke. I stepped outside, saw the yard across the street on fire and called 911.

“911 Emergency”
“I’d like to report a fire.”
“Is this the one on Paradise Valley Road and Woodman?”
“Yes.”
“Fire trucks are in route.”
“Thanks.”

OK, so I didn’t save the day. But I saved the memory! (100 pictures)

Or not

October 27, 2006

I drove over to the DMV today to take the motorcycle exam. But when I got there, the line was out the door. 😦 I’ll try again later… with an appointment.

Get the picture?

October 25, 2006

I just finished the MRI (at HowStuffWorks.com). It took about 40 minutes to complete. It’s a series of pictures which range from 1 to 8 minutes in durration.

I believe the tech said the machine cost about $2.5 million, plust $250,000 annually for servicing. But then he said the room itself is about $1.5 million dollars. And that’s because the room is actually a Faraday Cage. And the purpose is not to keep radio waves out, but to keep the radio waves in.

I found out that the machine blasts AM radio frequencies (AM 63.5 to be precise; 1.5 Tesla) using three 50,000 watt amps. I asked the tech how that compairs to a radio tower and he said they’re about the same. He also said that the question your weight on the paperwork is important, so they know how powerfull to set the MRI… as they don’t want to cook you. 😉

October 24, 2006

Okay… I saw The Prestige Saturday after the Eternity Skate event and again Monday night with my bro and counsin. Excellent movie!

And then today, I bought Identity. A pretty good mystery/suspense movie kinda like Agatha Christie’s (at IMDB, at Wikipedia) “And Then There Were None” (at IMDB, at Wikipedia)…. and for $4.99 at Best Buy this week, I had to get it.

(ps-wow! look at all the links :-P)
