I should be in bed. But I just had to tell you that Gnome is up and running on my laptop.
In fact, I’m posting this via FireFox > Gnome > Gentoo. 😉

Wowie Zowie! So, I got Gnome installed, my first real desktop with a GUI, and what do I spend my time doing? Compiling all my old console toys… only this time, I found fortune-mod-firefly! Yes!! I’m compiling it onto my server, too, buahaha!
For the linux-dunce: What does this mean? Random quotes from Firefly!
Oh wow… I found Ask a Ninja from banemacleod[dot]com. I’ve downloaded all of the movies (in quicktime), and I’ve watched about half. Great stuff.
I’ve got Gentoo Linux installed on my laptop. It is now a fully linux laptop, not dual boot stuff. I don’t have any GUI installed yet, just the bare system.
I’ve run linux servers for years, but I’ve not spent much time playing with GUIs.  This time around, I plan on trying out linux as a day-to-day desktop solution.
Oh, btw, “linmax” is the name of the machine. 😉
I am now CPR certified. Just thought I’d share that with you.
Had a really good class today. Instructor was quick and informative. In and out in about 3 hours (including tests). My CPR card should arrive in about 10 business days.
First Aid is next.
Aww… You’re Jet Black, baby! You’re not afraid to show your delicate side, as your many treasured bonsai plants would say if we asked. Despite this, you’re extremely strong and intelligent, and you’d do practically anything for your best friends.

My new toy came today. I had it up and running in 10 minutes, and started pushing data from my old file server over to the new raid network storage. It took me a while to find somewhere to put it, as I’m running out of ports on my network. I’ll have to get a gigabit switch soon too, as we’ve got a number of gigabit devices but only 10/100 switches.
So incredibly busy right now. I’m trying to blog about my weekend, but I’m gonna need like an hour to write, which I just don’t have right now. But it is on the list of things I really want to get done.
Short version: I woke up Thursday, went to work… one thing after another…and I found time to watch Ong-Bak Monday evening — which kept me up past 11pm (mistake! should’ve slept!!). I just lost another evening tonight fixing 2 computers at church, but it’s still hopefull that I’ll make it to bed before 11pm.
It was a really fun weekend, but so very tiring too.
