Progress, Making Progress

October 30, 2004

It’s getting late, but we’ve put in some good time today and made some great progress. We’ve got most of the computers in place. Some with their software up and running, the rest just waiting for their turn for attention.

Hagatha and Shaun are ready for action. Lights are in place. Cameras up and running (minus one for cleaning, but it’ll be up before dawn). The rest will get installed tomorrow before dawn.

I even spent a few hours updating the Halloween website. Be sure to check out our live streaming cams!

Finder’s Fee

October 27, 2004

From the description, I didn’t expect this movie to be worth watching. Then I noticed Matthew Lillard (and later James Earl Jones) and decided to sit through it. I wasn’t disappointed. Actually, I thought it was a really good movie. Up to that last scene. I thought that last bit was as bad as screenwritters who have multiple endings.

But, don’t let that last bit spoil the rest of the movie. Almost completely shot in once scene, I found this movie more entertaining that Phone Booth. And its all about a very long tug-of-war on morals…. which hat would you wear?

Time Correction

October 27, 2004

I just noticed that my server’s clock was set to localtime and the blog was correcting for UTC. I’ve changed my server’s clock over to UTC and manually corrected the blog times.

Rain Day

October 27, 2004

Today is off to a great start! I woke up to the sound of rain. I drove through the rain. I slept through more rain. Then I walked to work in the rain. I stood waiting for my foreman in the rain. And now I’m blogging at home in the rain.

I hope that didn’t sound sarcastic. I really do love the rain.

My turn to fly?

October 26, 2004

I had the soundtrack to Titan AE in my head all day at work today. On the way home, I stopped by Best Buy, Walmart and Target. None of which had the movie. How can three stores not stock a movie like Titan AE? Gah!

Server’s Live

October 25, 2004

I’ve finally changed the web serving over to the new server. I’ve had the data migrated for a few days now (that’s why no recent blog activity), but I didn’t want to switch it over untill I could finish making the new blog headers. As you might have noticed, the blog looks slightly different. This is because of a slightly newer WordPress version and newer Kubrick version.

Shaun of the Dead

October 16, 2004

Shaun of the DeadWent to go see Shaun of the Dead tonight with Dan and Dave. They made me do it. I wanted desperately to see Hero before it left theaters, but it’s looking like I won’t make it in time. We ended up having dave tally votes for movies which were playing at our favorite theater (AMC Palm Promenade 24). My movie lost. =[

And on to the review: I was dying of boredom the first 20 minutes or so. Dying to stand up and say, “See?! We should have gone to Hero!” Then they two main characters notice a girl in their garden. Woah, now things are picking up! I stopped breathing, it was so funny. The rest of the movie was spattered with laughter, which did taper of towards the end.

This movie is an import from the UK. The actors aren’t inexperienced, but they were all new faces to me. The acting was fine. The comedy wasn’t right from the get-go. Probably not worth a movie ticket unless you’re with a group who needs something to laugh about. But probably worth a rental if you like zombie-bashing-comedies (not that they should make that a genre of its own).

Order Shipped

October 13, 2004

Uh. Oops. This last weekend I ordered 3 gigabit NICs. I figured, one for my new server, one for my windows desktop, and one for my planned gaming machine (yet to be purchased and assembled, but I’ve picked out the main parts). The purpose to the purchase of the network cards was to increase the bandwidth to my file server. Being in a hurry, I didn’t want to wait for them to ship, so I submitted a cancelation request the next morning. Apparently, that request didn’t make it in time.

Server Status

October 12, 2004

It’s now Tuesday. I have completed installing the base system. I plan to install the AMP (Apache, MySQL, PHP) overnight. The computer is actually sitting in the den now, right next to the live web server. Only visual difference being this machine has no keyboard or mouse plugged in, just power and ethernet.

Grosse Pointe Blank

October 11, 2004

Grosse Pointe BlankI watched Grosse Pointe Blank tonight. I love this movie. The main character, Martin Q. Blank (played by John Cusack) is confused about his life. Searching for something, he goes back to his 10 year high school reunion and tries to pick up with a relationship he had with Debi Newberry (Minnie Driver) when he left town on prom night.

Meanwhile, this hitman-for-hire’s last few jobs have presented problems and his competition is trying to kill him. His childhood house has been paved over for Ultramart, and his friends don’t belive he is a professional killer. And how will he pull it all together when his own psych is affraid of him?

This is just a really great movie. It has character development, action, comedy, and a little romance. Unfortunately, I misread the runtime and started the movie late, so I’m now very late for bed. So, g’night!
